We are back with Laura to see how she has been getting on with her wedding planning. If you missed Laura’s lovely New York proposal, you can check it out here. Laura and her fiancé Ady are getting married in August 2018. Today Laura is telling us all about what she has been getting up to and the necessary pretty stationery essential for wedding planning. We couldn’t agree more Laura.
Pretty Stationery and a Venue Visit – Laura & Ady | Plan With Us
It’s official, we are less than 2 years until the wedding. As of today 1 year, 11 months & 4 days away. Safe to say I was a bit excited after we passed the 2 year mark.
It has been a fairly quiet month in terms of wedding planning. Whilst I’m excited that the wedding is less than 2 years away. 1 year, 11 months and 4 days is still plenty of time to get things sorted.
We have done a couple of things this month though…
Started looking for photographers
There is so much choice!!! We know we want a relaxed photographer that will take the majority of our pictures capturing natural moments and only very few ‘staged’ shots. I’ve been contacting everybody who I come across on Facebook and wedding blog sites asking for portfolios and pricing. We’re yet to make a final decision, but there are a couple of front runners. We hope to decide soon as we have already been told by some photographers that we’ve contacted that they are already booked!
One of the most important things for me to get finalised. Our venue doesn’t have any accommodation, so we need to find somewhere my bridal party and I can get ready on the day. As well as somewhere to go back to when it is all over. We have been to visit 3 local hotels – Shustoke Farm Barns, Lea Marston Hotel, Forest of Arden Marriott and The Belfry Hotel. Ady hasn’t been to see them all yet, so I’m hoping once we get a chance to go together we will be able to make a booking.

Our First Wedding Delivery
A very special delivery arrived last week. Our place names from VM Bespoke. They are beautiful. We ordered some whilst they had their discount code running so we haven’t by any means finalised our guest list. We ordered the people we know will be there. Our best friends and family. When we get closer to the wedding we will order whatever extra we need to. They are truly gorgeous though. So well made and exactly what I wanted. When I showed them to my mum, she cried. Happy tears – probably the first of many more to come.
They are honestly beautiful though. Ady and I have a little idea to make them into our favours as well. A bit of craft DIY will take place, but I’m excited.
Took 2 of my bridesmaids to see the venue
A couple of weeks ago I took 2 of my bridesmaids, my best friends Kirsty & Zoe to our venue. Neither had seen the venue before, so I was excited to share it with them. Thankfully they both absolutely loved it. It all felt very real showing them around. Where we will walk down the aisle, and where different aspects of the day will take place. Unfortunately the weather was wet and grey, but it made me appreciate Shustoke Farm Barn in a different way – it’s just so beautiful.
Last but not least – I finally decided to get organised
I have noticed that since starting to enquire about all things wedding, I’m starting to lose track of who I have contacted, who’s responded, who is a maybe, yes or no. I decided to buy some wedding stationery to help me get organised. I bought two exercise books and a wedding planner, all from Paperchase. And quite frankly, all gorgeous. Who doesn’t love a new notebook???
I would highly recommend this wedding planner to any other brides. I’ve noticed with most of them that they seem a little pointless. Not much room for anything, tiny pages, or planners that don’t actually guide you in what it takes to plan a wedding. This one however is brilliant. It has sections for everything wedding related and a massive section for notes. I highly recommend it.
So that’s it, a lot of googling and a lot of organising. All whilst convincing myself that new stationery, pens and pencils to go with my notebooks will only aid my wedding planning experience, haha.
